In just a matter of days your student’s university experience begins! Can you believe it? These next few years will be some of the most challenging and fulfilling of their lives. Many of life’s “Big Rock” questions will be answered. They will make some friends that will last a lifetime and experience all that comes with being a part of an academic community of faith. Thanks for choosing Indiana Wesleyan University as their home away from home for this next chapter of life. We are praying for you and your student as you both prepare for this life changing adventure.
When I think about what awaits all of our students on the IWU campus the word that most often comes to my mind is: Opportunity. Doors of opportunity will surround them and the choice is theirs which ones they will walk through.
Here are some ideas for students to consider that should help them get the most out of college:
Ask God to help you take full advantage of this experience.
What are your goals for this next season of life?
Attend your classes consistently and find a major that you are passionate about.
Meet as many new people as you can.
Get involved with at least one club, organization or activity.
Look for a mentor (like an upperclassmen or a professor) that can partner with you throughout this journey.
Dream about God’s call on your life and how you can fully develop in character, scholarship and leadership.
My hope and prayer is that all of our students will enjoy the rest of their summer, and find peace in the transition to college. We can hardly wait for their arrival!
