How to Earn Chapel Credit

As a Christ-centered institution, chapel is a long-standing tradition at Indiana Wesleyan University. The chapel experience that students receive is as important as the classes they attend because spiritual development is a key aspect of Christian life and education. Each student is allowed to miss chapel six times per semester.

So, what happens if your student needs to use more than the allotted six skips? Not to worry. There are different opportunities for earning chapel credit Monday through Friday.

Morning Chapel

Morning chapel takes place from 10:05 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Monday, Wednesday and Friday in the Chapel Auditorium. Each service begins with a worship session and prayer before ending with a presentation by professors and guest speakers. This is the main chapel service that students are required to attend.

Coram Deo

Every other Tuesday night, the John Wesley Honors College offers a small liturgical worship service in Noggle 135 from 9:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. Coram Deo services open with a short worship session and include prayer, scripture and responsive readings followed by a homily given by professors or students. The service closes with communion, a final prayer and a benediction.

Breathe is a worship service that takes place at 9:30 p.m. on Tuesday nights once a month in the Commons of the Barnes Student Center with a worship session and sermon.

Two Awaken services occur every Thursday night in the Globe Theater inside the Barnes Student Center. The first service for underclassmen takes place at 7:00 p.m. and includes a worship session, prayer and a sermon. Another service for upperclassmen follows at 9:30 p.m.

Online Chapel Make-up
